Best American made car seat on the market 2016, December 18, 2016

Shopping for car seats has gotten ridiculous. There are so many on the market and of crazy price points. You want to be safe but don’t want to break the bank. After reading countless online reviews I finally found a local “expert”. The “car seat lady” as she calls herself has made it a mission of hers to educate others on car seat safety and install seats in the Baltimore area where I happen to live. Her Pediatrician daughter does the same in New York area and they have a website with videos if you google the car seat lady. I do not work with them and was a regular paying customer of theirs but value their opinion as there are so few people put there that have dedicated themselves to research child car safety like they have. In any case, she gave me 2 current 2016 recommendations- one European as they tend to have superior safety standards for these things (Nuna pipa was that recommendation) or Baby Jogger for the American recommendation. I found the Nuna at my local Nordstrom to see in person but I liked the overall city mini stroller combo better and it was cheaper. We had trouble finding this car seat in stores to see. Many people carried in online but not in stores. I don’t believe it goes on sale so this is the same price you will pay regardless of what site you use. I like that I got free home delivery with Amazon so that was my deciding ordering factor. The car seat lady installed the seat for me and showed the nice feature of the car seat strap going around the back of the seat and clipping into a designated spot instead of just looping over the seat. Without the base and with just the car seat strap the seat was very solid. For ease of use we use the base (this comes with one) and bought a second but when traveling or in a taxi, uber, etc I have no concerns of safety not using the base. The car seat is well padded and the baby (born at just under 7 pounds) seems very comfortable in it. We are pleased and as a side note LOVE our city mini GT stroller. It steers so well. You do need to buy a $20 adapter to fit this car seat in that stroller but well worth It. Following directions this seat was not hard to install and I do not think I needed an expert to do it for me I was just already committed to the experience at that point and wanted to see it through after the recommendation to buy this. Overall very pleased so far.

It’s good, but could be better, April 24, 2016

This review is from: Baby Jogger 2016 City Go Infant Car Seat, Black (Baby Product)
I purchased this car seat at BuyBuyBaby because I got a registry discount. I was really excited to see Baby Jogger came out with a car seat. I’ve owned the City Mini and now the City Select and loved them. As far as the car seat goes, it’s okay.

I’m comparing this seat to the two previous seats I’ve used. The first being the Peg Perego 30/30 and the second being the Britax 35 Elite. I was really excited to buy this seat and try it out with my newborn. It’s a great seat, but I don’t think it’s worth the high price.

    Pros:
    1. I love the fabric. It’s soft and has plenty of padding.
    2. It’s wide enough to hold a chubby baby without squishing them too much. This is an issue with the Britax 35 Elite
    3. Fairly easy to install. My husband installed it in a few minutes. The Britax is still much easier though.
    4. The “rocking” feature that other reviews are talking about is basically what 90% of car seats already do. They rock when placed on the floor and the parent moving it back and forth. The only difference with this one is it’s more rounded on the bottom. It resembles a rocking chair. It’s not really a selling point to me, but may be for some.
    5. I was able to fit three car seats across. This seat was in the middle of two Diono’s and there was plenty of room.

    Cons:
    1. I’m not a fan of this canopy. It really irritates me. It’s bulky and has crunchy fabric. It’s the same as what’s on the city select. Yes, it extends farther than most seats which is awesome, but getting it there is a pain. It clicks extremely loud and you have to use two hands to pull the canopy out (one on each side). When the canopy is pushed back, it doesn’t fold nicely. That’s what makes it so bulky. I really think this is a fabric issue. If the fabric was the same as the seat, it seems like it would fold back nicer.
    2. Getting it in and out of the base is just ok. It’s not as difficult as my Peg Perego was, but it’s definitely not as easy as the Britax.
    3. Adjusting the harness. It’s nice not to rethread it, but you basically have to turn the seat over to move the harness straps up/down. The first time I adjusted them, I had to take my baby in and out three times to move the straps. Both the Peg Perego and Britax are easier to adjust.
    4. Not a huge deal, but the pads around the straps are not very soft/plush. They’re flat and very stiff.
    5. You cannot attach a Baby Jogger car seat to a Baby Jogger stroller without buying an additional Baby Jogger attachment. This is really lame.
    6. The chest clip is flimsy and cheap. Once it’s buckled, I can move it back and forth. It’s not a tight fit.
    7. There are huge warning labels on the pads around baby’s head. I mean huge! They are not pictured in the product photo.

Overall, it’s a good seat, but it’s not worth the high price in my opinion. I will be returning because I hate the bulky canopy that much.

Beautiful and functional infant carriers, December 4, 2016

Beautiful and functional infant carriers. We bought two of them for our city select double stroller. The best stroller and car seat ever. It is very safe and functional. Larch canopy protects babies from snow, rain, wind or sun. It is little more expensive then some other brands, but well worth the money as my babies safety comes first.
