I needed to color-code my bottles for pumping purposes. This works great and I really like the color. It was delivered faster than it said it would take. Nice addition to plain clear bottles! 🙂

Avent are the best bottles we have ever had, and after four children, we have tried all of them on the market., November 7, 2016

We went through a lot of different brands of bottle with Baby #4 – Dr Brown, Tommee Tippee, Playtex; anything that was supposed to be “nearly like a real nipple”, as my wife was 50% breastfeeding/bottlefeeding the baby. Dr Brown was our worst nightmare, and the baby hated that bottle to the point that he would actively swat it away from his face. Tommee Tippee was too slow-flow, or too quick-flow, there was no happy medium, plus the nipple had too much air flow into his mouth. But the Avent… the Avent brand was our go-to with Baby #2, Baby #3, and now Baby #4.

We seem to fall into the same trap each time – we “forget” the last time; what we went through, what kinds of things the baby actually liked, and what didn’t work. Dr Brown is the thing everyone always buys us at baby showers, and this is really unfortunate, because they are quite a bit more expensive than other bottles! They are also substantially more of a pain to wash and maintain than any other bottle on the market, because of their gimmicky nipple/formula release system. It doesn’t actually work any better, it just is a talking point they can use to make themselves look cooler to well-off families.

After a month or so of fighting with bottle tops, tiny bottle brushes that look like pipe cleaners, and babies that swat the bottle out of your hand instead of drinking it, we switch to a thicker-nippled bottle, thinking that it will be a lot more like a real nipple, so the baby surely must like it. This time it was Tommee Tippee. As I mentioned earlier, their numbering system is terrible, and good luck self-modifying it without choking your baby in formula. 1 and 2 barely give any formula out, 3 chokes a 7-month-old. Additionally, it is too wide of a bottle, and my son hated it.

And, the inevitable creep back to Avent. I don’t know why we don’t just start here and stick with Avent – we love these bottles, our babies love them, and their numbering system is spot-on. 2 was fine for 7 months, we upgraded to 3 with the 12-oz bottle, and now he is a year old. Avent really is the best bottle, coming from a father of 4 kids. Ignore those dumb “best bottles of 2016/20xx” lists, they are just going to put the most gimmicky, biggest pain in the bottom at the top of the list, every time.

Until you get roused at 3:45 AM to wash/dry a bottle, and make a new 10oz to get your baby back to sleep, when you have to be at the office at 9 AM and need to get enough sleep to function, I don’t think you have enough information available to make a correct determination about what it is you really need in a bottle. Take it from me – this is the one you want.

By far the best bottle I’ve bought my son. He had been using tomee tippee for almost a year. I even tried mam & nuk bottles, none compare to the quality of this one! Great shape & best nipple.
